“Celestine” by Fernando de Rojas
(Summer 2003)
Premiered at the Castle of Pantokrator (Preveza) in August 2003. A tour follows in the cities and villages of Epirus, Lefkada and Nafpaktos and at the theater room of Theatrical Workshop of Preveza.
"You will now watch how the ingenius matchmaker and promoter Celestina, achieves the illicit union of the love-struck knight Callisto with the difficult noblewoman Melibea. How Celestina falls victim to her greed and the folly of Callisto's two servants. And finally, how, although dead, she drags her murderers and the two happy lovers with her to their deaths.
You will also witness how small the distance is that separates pain from pleasure in love, in life and in death."
Following an invitation from the Athens Prevezan Association, the play was presented in Athens in November, where it received significant reviews from Mr. Dimitris Tsatsoulis - Professor of Theatre Studies at the University of Patras and Theatre Critic (New Home Magazine, issue 1763-1st 2004).
Following an invitation from the Cervantes Institute of Spanish Studies, the T.W.P. presented Celestina for the second time in Athens to a particularly demanding audience with great success.
