In Search of Prometheus” by Aeschylus

(Winter 2013)

Material from the texts “Prometheus Bound” by Aeschylus, translated by P. Moullas & V. Rottas and “Reference to Greco” by N. Kazantzakis.

Searching for Prometheus then and now. The then is Pontus. Injustice, uprooting, absolute zero and the effort for a new beginning, solidarity, hope.

"The new spring grass will cover the tombstones and life will resume, struggling uphill."

The now is the eternal Prometheus who opens new paths, unjust power. The dance-world, which initially fears, listens, realizes, reacts, resists, hopes.... Each one separately but also all together.

Common point the Caucasus, injustice, punishment, hope, creation.

The performance is a result of our anxiety and need to talk about what is happening around us. Kazantzakis' narrative is intertwined with Aeschylus' tragedy in an attempt to connect the then - the history of Pontus - with the now - the story of Prometheus - which is repeated to this day.

The premiere takes place in February in Lefkada.

The performances continue at the T.W.P. theater, in Agrinio, in Arta (in collaboration with "PNOE" and the proceeds are given to the Children's Intensive Care Unit of the Aglaia Kyriakou Hospital), in Parga, at the Archaeological Site of Elea, in Samsunta, in Skoupa Arta and in Babini Xiromerou.
