I Want a Country” by Andreas Flourakis

(Autumn 2019)

Theatrical Workshop of Preveza presents the work, in the form of a recital, at the Roman Odeon of Nicopolis, in collaboration with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Preveza, the Amphion Odeon and the singer Danos Miniadis within the framework of the European Cultural Heritage Days.

A musical and theatrical event at the Odeon of Nicopolis, the pre-eminent venue for hosting artistic events of antiquity.

With the dominant slogan “I want a country”, writer Andreas Flourakis transcribes with humor and despair all those phrases that we hear, say and repeat when we talk about our country today. In the performance, the floor is given mainly to the new generation. A generation embarrassed by the general crisis, which feels the need to define what the country it dreams of is.

The work is performed as a theatrical lectern with musical accompaniment in semantic coherence with the text. Through music and theater, one of the most important forms of art and basic means of entertainment in antiquity, the aim is to reach out to the local community and that of the wider region, as well as to promote the monument itself.
