“The gap of Cassope” by Frederic Lenormand
(Autumn 2023)
After the restoration of the first five rows of seats of the great theater of ancient Cassope by the Ephorate of Antiquities of Preveza, the theater once again welcomed spectators after two millennia.
In collaboration with the Ephorate of Antiquities, the Regional Unit of Preveza and the "DIAZOMA" Association, the Theater Workshop of Preveza, which this year completes 28 (1998-2026) years of theatrical presence, had the honor of presenting "The gap of Cassope".
The plot of the work refers to the violent transfer by the Romans, of the population from Cassopeia to Nicopolis in 31 B.C. after Octavian's victory in the naval battle of Actium. The author describes the clash of the two civilizations with great humor and sarcasm.
The performance was presented in the afternoon and ended before sunset. Due to limited seating, the premiere on September 9 was given to the members of the Diazoma (approximately 350 people) and was followed by two other performances for the audience of Preveza and the surrounding areas.
The emotion was great for everyone and the reviews were enthusiastic.
